IMPORTANT SIZING INFO: Before making your final size selection, consider this: – This suit is SLIM FIT, which means, for men with average builds, this suit fits SNUG — both body and legs. – IF you are either muscular or husky build consider one size larger. (Remember, this is a pre-packaged suit where the pants size is 6 less than the shoulder size.)
1 . Choose Or Measure Height:
Stand against a wall (shoeless). Place a flat ruler across top of head to wall. measure from that point down to the floor. The following guide will show you the appropriate length for your jacket. (Refer to the size chart on the bottom of the page.)
5’4″ to 5’7″ = Short
5’7 ½” to 5’11” = Regular
5’11 ½” to 6’2 ½” = Long
2 . Choose Or Measure Chest:
Bring tape measure around the widest part of your chest, under your arms, completely around your torso. The average man will have a 6 inch difference between chest size and waist size. For Example: 44 chest will have 38 waist
3 . Choose Or measure Waist:
Waist measurement should be no different than your normal waist size when you purchase a pair of trousers. However, if you would like to measure, measure around the smallest part of the natural waist. The average man will have a 6 inch difference between waist size and chest size. For Example: 32 waist will have 38 chest.
Getting sizes for a Suit is a relatively easy process. You most likely fit into one of the (3) categories below:
1)You already know your sizes if you own a suit or sports coat. Tuxedo size scales are similar to suit size scales. If you currently own a suit or sports coat, simply look at your current coat to see what size it is … it’s that easy. You now know what tuxedo/Suit coat size you should wear. Tuxedo trousers work the same way. If you have a pair of suit pants, dress pants, or even khakis (NOTE: not tight jeans), you then have a good idea of what size waist you need for your tuxedo trousers
2) You do not own a suit or sports coat. You do have access to a local tailor shop. Once again, getting measurements for your tuxedo should be a relatively easy process. You can always visit a local tailor shop to have your measurements taken (NOTE: you should not be charged a fee because the tailor will usually expect you to come back to him for your tailoring/alterations needs).
3) You do not own a suit or sports coat. You do not have access to a local tailor shop. You do have a tape measure and someone who can measure you. As long as you have a tape measure and friend/family member, you can easily have your measurements accurately taken. Be sure to stand up straight with your arms at your sides. Stand relaxed, yet still erect. Have your friend/family member take the tape measure around your chest (at its fullest part) UNDER your arms. Helpful hint: have your friend/family member insert a finger between the tape measure and your body to ensure a comfortable fit. This would be your “Chest Size”. (Ex. 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, etc).
Next you want to find out if you are a “Short”, “Regular”, “Long”. This is determined by height. See the chart below, if your height is in the Blue area, you are a short. If your height is listed in the red area, you are a regular. If your height is listed in the green area, you are a long. If your height is taller than 6’3″ you are considered to be an X-Long. Please call us for assistance. You can also use the chart below to determine your exact tux/suit size
Tuxedo trousers: If you have a pair of suit pants, dress pants, or even khakis (NOTE: not tight jeans), you then have a good idea of what size waist you need for your tuxedo trousers. If not, simply have your friend/family member take the tape measure and measure around your waist (this should be where you are comfortable wearing your trousers. Tradition used to state that you should wear your trousers up at your “belly button”. Styles change over the years; it’s rare that people still wear their trousers up that high). Bottom Line: You want to be comfortable whether you decide to wear your trousers up to belly-button or down closer to your hips.
